Spider Veins
Spider veins (also known as telangiectasia or thread veins) are tiny engorged veins that lie close to the skin’s surface and usually measure less than 1mm in diameter. They may be red or purple in colour. They commonly occur on the legs, especially the calves, thighs and ankles; but can also appear on the face (e.g. cheeks and nose), or other body areas. Some spider veins on the face may be caused by a combination of sun exposure and/or chronic skin inflammation (rosacea).
Why consider laser vein therapy?
Anyone who struggles with unsightly spider veins will probably tell you how self-conscious they are about them. Many people are so embarrassed by spider veins on their legs that they wear long pants or long skirts all summer just to hide them. When spider veins are on the face, it is even more difficult to conceal them. How is laser vein therapy performed?
The Cutera Laser can remove unsightly veins from all parts of the body. Small, facial veins can be treated without bruising or complications. Spider veins on the legs can also be treated with excellent results.
The laser delivers pulses of light energy which cause the blood within the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessel which is later reabsorbed by your body. Blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below your skin’s surface, where they are not visible.
