Our skin is held together by elastic bonds called elastin. As we age, these bonds start to separate from one another making the skin less elastic. Collagen is another component of youthful skin. Its abundance helps to keep the skin tight, soft, elastic and wrinkle-free. Unfortunately our bodies produce 1% less collagen every year we get older. This decrease can be even more rapid depending on sun damage, diet, stress or lack of proper skin care habits.  The loss of elastin and collagen can cause the skin to “sag” in a rather unflattering way.

Why consider laser skin tightening?

Laser skin tightening firms the skin’s elastic bonds to bring back skin’s bounciness making it more supple and firm. It also increases the production of collagen to restore the skin’s natural volume and lessen wrinkles.  It is a face lift without surgery, recovery time, or injections.  It can also be used very successfully on other parts of the body to tighten sagging skin, including the jawline, under the chin, the abdomen, the arms and the legs.

How is laser skin tightening performed?

The Cutera Titan laser uses a safe infrared light to heat the dermis well below the skin’s surface.  During the procedure, the skin’s top surface (the epidermis) is protected through continuous cooling with the Titan handpiece.  Titan’s light-based platform provides uniform distribution of energy for heating the deep dermis.  With each Titan pulse, you will feel a brief heating sensation.

Trusculpt 3D is also an effective treatment for reducing fat cells with the added benefit of skin tightening. This can be used on a double chin, abdomen, bra fat, thighs and almost anywhere else you have excess pockets of fat.
